The EcoCamp at Glenshee in Perthshire is for the outdoor lovers amongst us!
The camp offers all year round pod accommodation for you and your furry friend in all weathers.

These insulated pods come with heating and electricity, and will do you even in the coldest of winters.

The luxury wooden homes each have individual comfy matresses for up to five people per pod. The camp also provide fleecy blankets for indoors, and charge £2 a night for a sleeping bag if you happen to forget your own!

Your furry friend can sleep in the snuggly pod with you, no need to banish him to the kennels.

This camp is situated in Glenshee providing stunning views of the rolling hills and surrounding farmland.

You and fido can head out for some hearty walks along the farm lands, as long as you keep him on a leash to prevent from scaring livestock. Highland cows roam the nearby lands, and are know to charge if spooked by cheeky little doggies.

A pick-up service is now an option for those who want to come for walkies. Stopping at the camp, hill walkers can climb aboard the service to civilisation in the afternoon.
Or if you decide to come without your friend, you can indulge yourself in llama trekking, where you can visit the local llamas and go hillwalking for £20 per person.

EcoCamp Glenshee serve locally sourced, organic produce on their site, and can provide food for all meal times. The communal cooking area is the stone built Bothy with a woodburner on hand. The Bothy is complete with food storage areas, perfect for family style meal times.
You may even see the chickens running around – the free range eggs supplied at the camp.

While this may be luxury camping, it is still camping. Only for the adventurers, pampered pooches won’t take too well to the mud and a not so pretty hose down.

LoKal Burgers & Beer

Located in sunny Miami, Florida, LoKal Burgers and Beer in Coconut Grove is a hands down winner with dog lovers and sun worshipers.

The burger joint opened in 2011 with a massive launch drawing in customers and dogs from all over the Miami area.

Owned by a foodie couple, one cooks and the other studied nutrition, LoKal Burgers and Beer pride themselves on their produce.
All ingredients are locally sourced and supplied from farms, dairies and brewers to highlight the wealth of produce that comes straight from the sunshine state.

The owners are there every step of the process, from suppliers to table and value great food. Each burger patty is is ground down by hand and pressed before being freshly cooked and served.

The restaurant also prides itself on being green, opening as the first restaurant in the Miami-Dade county area to use solar and wind power to operate on 100% clean and reneable energy.

There is an emphasis on recycling and restoring items, used through the decor such as this indoor sign made from recycled corks.

The best part of this locally sourced, fresh, and green restaurant is it is dog friendly!
In fact the house dog YeYo often makes an appearance at the front door to greet
customers and their furry friends.

There is even a seperate menu which your dog can order from with dishes such as Maramaduke’s Meatloaf and YeYo’s Chicken and Rice, while Bowser Beer is on offer for a refreshment for $5.
Doggy biscuits and water are on the house if your pet has already come fed and watered.

The menu has a variety of different dishes, and even goes as far to tell you exactly where your dinner came from and what livestock have been fed.

If you just stop by for a drink, then you can choose from an electric range of locally sourced beers and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere in this wonderful hang-out.

To the North of Munich, Germany is the Canis Resort for dogs.
This 24/7 service opened in 2008 after popular demand from owners to give their dogs the ultimate pampering experience, while their owners are away on business.

This hotel, unlike many dog-friendly hotels has a no humans policy and is strictly what it says on the tin – a dog hotel.

This modern building is equipped with heated lodgings for your dog to stay, a 360 sq metre field for playing and training, designer grooming and gourmet food.

Personal fitness coaches are on hand if your friend is in for fitness rehab and can work with your greedy playmate to design an individual fitness and diet plan.

If your friend needs more training, professional trainers are available to put your pet through his or hers paces and teach you some useful hints and tips for maintaining obedience.
You can enjoy individual or leash training for €80 per hour.

A wealth of services such as physiotherapy ( €60/hour) and grooming treatments (starting from €50/hour) are available daily.

1 day and 1 night will cost you €80, but if your furry friend is in need of some well deserved r+r then this is the place to go.

The Pelican Cafe

The Pelican Cafe is an award winning restaurant located in Glasgow’s trendy West End.
Situated directly opposite Kelvingrove Museum and Art Galleries, it is a popular place amongst students and shoppers.

The Pelican Cafe is tucked between an array of shops and cafes on Argyle Street, but the  dog friendly sticker on the window was enough to draw us inside.
Upon entering we approached a member of bar staff to be seated, who became rather flustered at the sight of Holly despite the dog-friendly sign, and promptly told us to sit next to the window so Holly could sit in the corner out of the way.

We sat at a wooden table at the window, which provided striking views of the museum and art galleries, and also allowed for people watching in the warm weather.
A friendly waitress took our drinks order straight away.

Despite the shaky start, the atmosphere within the restaurant is calm and relaxing. There is a continental charm to the decor; lashings of creams, reds and browns, with luxurious deep-red leather booths at the back of the restaurant, and wooden tables towards the front for more of a cafe feel whilst people watching.
While there is little lighting, the fairy lights draped above the booths make you feel like you are in Spain, and the mellow jazz and South American music only adds to the atmosphere.

Bottles of wine are stored and stacked on display ready for opening, with great pricing.

Our food order is taken and Holly has sat up on a chair, idly chewing on a treat while she if often fawned over by customers coming in and out.
Out of the bustle of the kitchen, a member of staff who I can only imagine is the manager or owner, comes out to greet us and is extremely friendly towards Holly, telling us of his own pet dogs he owns, dispelling any reservations we had about how welcomed dogs were in the restaurant.

The kitchen faces onto the restaurant, and through the servants hatch the buzz within is on show. The restaurant is filled with the aroma of fresh cooking, just enough to make you desperate for your meal to arrive.

Our waitress is attentive and friendly, delivering our meals and checking on our drinks, popping over to the table every so often to ensure we are enjoying ourselves.

Our food is well presented and smells as delicious as it tastes.
This restaurant prides itself on sourcing it’s core produce locally, ethically and from top quality producers. Their speciality is seafood, however there are a great number of meat dishes, vegetarian and vegan options, and also a childrens menu for families. Children and dogs are allowed into the restaurant until 8pm, although food is served continuously until 10pm.

Blowing all nearby competition out of the water, the delicious food is more than competitively priced starting at £4, but still of great quality. Drinks are also on the cheaper side, not beefing up your bill unless you are buying wine.

There is an upscale West End feel to this restaurant. The atmosphere is mellow and relaxing,
with people quietly talking beneath the music.
Not only does the location provide views of Kelvingrove museum and art gallery but the gardens outside make a fantastic place to take your furry friend for a walk before or after your meal.

And Holly was all puffed out after her walkies and treats.

TIP: No doggy bowls or treats on offer here, so best to bring your own.

The Bungo Bar and Kitchen

Tucked away in the Southside of Glasgow, The Bungo Bar and Kitchen offers chic casual dining for couples, friends, students, families and best of all dogs!

The Bungo is part of a successful trio including The Left Bank in Glasgow’s West End and The Two Figs on Byres Road.
Opening in 2011, this trendy bar and kitchen is tucked away on Nithsdale Road,  South of the River Clyde. Its location is an unusual choice for an establishment with a West End vibe, however this hasn’t deterred customers, with the bar area and booths packed upon our arrival.

There is a friendly buzz in the air; laughter and chatter flowing freely, food and drinks zipping past and the aroma of fresh cooking coming from the kitchen. This is definitely an upscale venue, with an eloquent mix of customers. Already, a few dogs are sprinkled amongst the booths, quietly enjoying treats or a nap on the floor.

We are seated very quickly in an open booth area, and Holly is promptly brought water and dog food before our order is taken by an attentive member of staff.

 brown leather and thick green cushioning, comfortable and at a perfect height for the wooden pub-like tables. Wooden picnic-esque tables lining the window, exposed stone walls and baskets of fruit adorning the bar, manage to create the atmosphere of a country club bar.

This minimalist decor is perfect for the upscale dining and cocktails served daily until 10pm, and provides a great escape from the not-so-fancy industrial-era buildings less than a minutes walk from this contemporary retreat.

The long and very-busy bar is the only modern looking addition to The Bungo.

Freshly made, intricate cocktails were continuously mixed during our visit and a plethora of brands were on show for customers to choose.
The stainless steel bar top provided the modern touch, but sitting up at the bar on a sunny day sipping mint and honey daiquiris would soon make you forget your were in Glasgow’s South side.
Bar staff were quick and efficient, sending out drink orders as quickly as they came in.

Our fresh food arrives, causing a greedy Holly to jump onto the seat as if awaiting a napkin to be tied around her. The portions are perfectly sized, the food is delicious and the prices are affordable.

We were encouraged by staff to relax and enjoy drinks after our meal, which came as a lovely surprise!
This refreshing attitude is a stark comparison to many an establishment who want you out to get the next lot in as soon as your fork hits the plate.

The Bungo also has a separate function room available for hire, and plays host to events from acoustic gigs to stand up. Children are also welcome until 8pm and the extensive menu will have something to suit everyone including small snacks starting from £2.75.
Drinks are a little more pricey, and will beef up your bill, so go easy if you are dining on a budget.

The Stables

On the outskirts of Kirkintilloch, located at the side of the Forth and Clyde Canal, The Stables is your perfect family and dog friendly pub.

Built in 1812 to house horses working on the nearby canal, this old building has developed into a popular country pub and restaurant, complete  with great views of the Firth of Clyde, the rolling Campsie hills and idyllic scenery.

The pub itself is a rustic affair,  looking every inch the charming countryside pub  from outside.
A perfectly cut garden with benches leads up to the front door, guiding you inside the warm reception area to await seating.
A wash of oranges and browns, the dining area provides that   ‘countryside feeling’, while a roaring log fire adds to the rural atmosphere.
Minimilist wooden tables sit amongst a well lit dining and pub area, while draped curtains encourage comfort and a feeling of being at home.

Standard pub grub is available if you prefer your old favourites, while the fixed price menu with 2 courses for £8.50 until 5pm is a popular choice.

This is a family friendly pub, with a children’s menu, but many local families come on a Sunday to tuck into a delicious Sunday roast – minus the dishes.
A variety of drinks and wines are on offer at competitive prices.

Our furry friends aren’t allowed in the restaurant area, however the beer garden is where they are welcomed with water and a dog bowl at the side of the establishment.
The beer garden, overlooking the canal and unspoilt scenery is a popular place to stop for a spot of lunch or ice cold drink during the summer months.

Sheltered tables and picnic benches are situated in the beer garden, a favourite stop over for cyclists and walkers who can gain access to the garden from the canal path.

While outside, you can enjoy watching the riverboats travel up and down the canal – perhaps even catch a ride with one!
After you’ve enjoyed your food and drinks, you can enjoy a hearty walk along the canal with your furry friend.

On a warm summer’s day, the beer garden is locally known as a hot spot, so be sure to get down there early to guarantee yourself a seat.
Recommended booking in advance for a table in the restaurant area.

Oaty Peanut Butter Bones

Delicious oaty peanut butter bone biscuits that your dog will love!
MAKES: 30 Biscuits
PREP TIME: 15 Minutes
COOKING TIME: 15 Minutes

Ingredients List:

1 Veg Stock Cube

1 Cup Rolled Oats

1 Cup Plain Flour

1 Cup Wholemeal Flour

1/2 Cup Peanut Butter

1/4 Cup Honey

1 Tablespoon Olive Oil

                   and a bone shaped cookie cutter – buy here

Preheat your oven to 175 C .

Measure out 1 cup plain flour, 1 cup wholemeal flour and 1 cup rolled oats and combine in a bowl.

 

Measure 1/2 cup peanut butter, 1/4 cup honey, 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 cup of the vegetable stock and combine in a large mixing bowl. Mix this together until peanut butter has melted a little.

Sift in the mix of flour and oats and fold the mixture until a sticky dough forms.
Knead with your hands until the dough becomes stiff and gather it together.

Sprinkle flour onto your work surface and onto a rolling pin.
Then roll the dough out until roughly 1.5cm thick.

Cut dough into bone shapes using a bone shaped cookie cutter like this one  I purchased from eBay.

You may need to re-flour your surface and roll dough scraps out again to use up all the mixture.

Place onto greaseproof paper on a baking tray and bake at 175 C for roughly 15 minutes.

The biscuits should darken in colour but should not be too soft or crumbly.
TIP: If you press on one, it should leave an initial mark and then rise again.
Don’t leave them in too long! They harden once they are out of the oven.
Leave them to cool for 20 minutes.
